SUMMARY:APS Vic event - Panel Discussion The Need for Speed? Single Tooth Implants -  How Fast is Too Fast?
DESCRIPTION:AOS Vic Panel discussion and case-based debate\nFor general dentists and specialists\nThe Need for Speed? Single Tooth Implants – How Fast is Too Fast? \nFour leading clinicians pressure-test the timing\, design and restorative decisions driving modern single tooth implant therapy – and the trade-offs we don’t talk about often enough.\nPatients want it faster. Workflows are pushing efficiency. Implant designs promise higher primary stability. But where is the line between clinical convenience and clinical compromise? \nJoin four leading clinicians as they dissect the single tooth implant from extraction to final restoration — challenging the assumptions behind immediate placement\, aggressive thread designs\, and same-day provisionalisation. Expect real cases\, real disagreement\, and a frank conversation about what holds up — not only on the day of placement\, but many years down the track. \nWhat we’ll cover \n\nTiming and placement logic – Type 1 vs Type 2: when is the wait mandatory\, and when is it a wasted opportunity?\nThe compromised site – missing buccal plates\, active pathology\, and the limits of GBR\nImplant design under the microscope — aggressive vs passive threads\, primary stability vs bone crushing\, and what happens when things go wrong\nThe restorative interface – immediate provisionalisation criteria\, custom healing abutments\, micro-movement\, and soft tissue optimisation\nWhen things go wrong – peri-implantitis management and responsible implantology: placing today with tomorrow’s options in mind.\n\nSynopsis: \nThe single tooth implant has become one of the most common procedures in modern dentistry – and one of the most quietly contested. Patients want faster results\, workflows are pushing for efficiency\, and newer implant designs\, surgical techniques and digital technology allow us to achieve the primary stability and tissue preservation needed to cut traditional healing times. Immediate placement is increasingly promoted as the answer: faster results\, less surgery\, reduced morbidity and superior aesthetics. But how fast is too fast\, and when does the evidence support it? \nIn this AOSVB panel discussion\, four leading clinicians – a periodontist\, an OMFS\, a prosthodontist and a general dentist – come together to pressure-test the timing\, design\, techniques and restorative decisions shaping single tooth implant therapy in 2026. Through literature\, real cases and frank debate\, the panel will examine where the biological speed limit actually sits\, how implant design and surgical technique influence long-term bone and soft tissue behaviour\, when immediate provisionalisation helps rather than harms\, why case selection is everything\, and what responsible implantology looks like when we plan today’s placement with tomorrow’s options in mind. Expect a conversation focused not just on what works initially\, but on what lasts the test of time – aesthetically and functionally. \nThe Panel \n\n\n\n\n\n                               \n                           Dr Andrew Cheng — General Dentist         Dr Luan Ngo — Periodontist\n\n                                \n\n\n\n\n\n                                 Mr Michael Qiu — OMFS                        Dr Chen Chen — Prosthodontist\n\nModerators:\n\n\nLead Moderator: Dr Angelos Sourial\n\n\n\n \nCase Moderators:\nDr Devika Iyer and Dr Matthew Youssef\n\n\n\nAOS Vic Members (any type of membership) – Please login to get your ticket.\n  \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:AOS VIC Dinner: Predictable Results in Unpredictable Times Dr. Irfan QURESHI (MSc Prosthodontics \, Pakistan)
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to present:  Dr. Irfan Qureshi from Pakistan DDS \n\n\n\nLecture: Predictable Results in Unpredictable Times. \nPredictable and Safe Sinus Augmentation \nSinus augmentation remains one of the most technique-sensitive yet indispensable procedures for predictable implant rehabilitation in the posterior maxilla. This presentation traces the evolution of sinus grafting approaches\, with a focus on both crestal and lateral techniques supported by long-term follow-up data. Evidence-based protocols will be shared\, highlighting the use of advanced biomaterials such as autologous tooth bone\, CGF\, and the ASAP technique. Specialized surgical kits designed to enhance safety\, precision\, and predictability will be demonstrated\, alongside detailed step-by-step documentation of complex cases with up to ten years of follow-up. Participants will gain practical insights into optimizing treatment planning\, minimizing complications\, and achieving consistent\, reproducible outcomes. \nRestoratively Driven Implant Dentistry: Surgical–Prosthetic Interface \nImplant dentistry is best approached as the seamless integration of surgery and prosthetics—two sides of the same coin. This session will highlight how meticulous prosthetic planning drives surgical execution\, ensuring optimal esthetic\, functional\, and biological outcomes. By treating the surgical and restorative phases as inseparable\, clinicians can improve precision\, reduce complications\, and deliver restorations that achieve long-term harmony between biological tissue health and mechanical stability. Real-world clinical cases will illustrate how restoratively driven protocols elevate predictability and patient satisfaction\, reinforcing the principle that true implant success lies in the synergy of surgical and prosthetic disciplines. \n\n\n\n \n \nMSc Prosthodontics (King`s College London)\nBoard Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI) and is acknowledged by ABOI as its first ever Diplomate from Pakistan\nDiplomate Implant Dentistry (Royal College of Surgeons\, Edinburgh)\nDiplomate\, International Congress of Oral Implantologists\nExaminer for Implant Dentistry Exams (Royal College of Surgeons\, Edinburgh)Member Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCPS)\, (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow)\n\nDr Irfan Qureshi is considered one of the finest Implant Surgeons in Pakistan and has performed thousands of  dental implant and bone grafting surgeries since the past 20 years.
